Renting a Disney Vacation Club Villa

We've rented DVC points for the first time.

One of our new affiliate advertisers is David's Vacation Club Rentals. Later this year I'll be writing a little bit more about "David's" since Mary Ann and I have purchased points to stay four nights in a Savannah View Studio during our trip in December. But I can tell you a little bit about the process so far; PLUS this was also our first time renting or using points.

Our experience with renting DVC points has been great so far. First, I used the Points Calculator to figure out how much it was going to cost for various options. We knew that three or four nights was our target for a DVC, and we were going to stay on property for an additional four nights with a family group as well. Once we had the dates, location (we really wanted an AKL Savannah view for this trip) and type of room, we submitted our request on David's site with a small deposit.

Everything you need is on David's web site. The Points Calculator, Reservation Form, Payment Form and so forth. Plus a lot of information you can read about to help you through. Honestly, if you want to stay at a Deluxe resort on WDW property, you will save money by renting points.

Once we started the process, everything has been smooth as silk. Our first request was not available for our dates; but our second request was. The response was less than a day. We received notice by email, paid the balance and shortly thereafter (couple of days) we received our contract for use with the actual DVC points owner.

Than we actually had a problem, since I didn't include Mary Ann's name as a guest, and you need to specifically have both persons name on the reservation. I notified David's by email and they quickly made the correction with owner. Now we were all set. Almost immediately, our reservation appeared on the Walt Disney World web site reservation page.

Other options for our trip were emailed to us (i.e. information on Magical Express) but the Frequently Asked Questions on David's Vacation Club Rental web site is comprehensive. At this point, it's just waiting to travel for our trip, and I'll write about our experience when that occurs. But for now, I am very satisfied with the point rental process

Although David's is an advertising affiliate, no consideration or special offers were provided us for our trip. We paid the full price, $13/point. Of course, if you decide to click on an ad in this article or on our web site, and then rent points for your trip, we will get a small commission (which of course, keeps us interested in managing our web sites, so thank you if you do.)

As you know, the Disney Vacation Club is somewhat similar to a timeshare, with the biggest difference being that members own "points" that can be exchanged for days at Disney Vacation Club properties. This allows the reserving of rooms at a DVC resort anytime of the year, for any number of days, rather than a set time, week or period.
David is Better Business Bureau accredited and work with hundreds of Disney Vacation Club Members who for one reason or another can not use their purchased right to vacation at a Disney Vacation Club property. You don't have to be a member of the Disney Vacation Club to rent points.
DVC points can be used to stay at any of the 11 deluxe Disney Vacation Club properties. There are 7 Vacation Club Resorts located on property at Walt Disney World, 1 on the Atlantic Ocean at Vero Beach, 1 in South Carolina at Hilton Head Island, 1 in Anaheim California at the Disneyland resort and the newest resort, Aulani, located at Ko Olina on the island of O'ahu in Hawaii.
While staying at the Disney World resort in Orlando Florida, as a guest of a DVC Member, you will receive all the benefits of any guest staying on property, including the Magical Express, the Dining Plan and Extended Magic Hours. David has this related information on his web site, as well as direction on Park Tickets, Travel Insurance and Grocery Orders.
And renting points from a DVC Member for stays at a Disney Vacation Club property can save you hundreds of dollars off the regular rack rates.
